On March 1, 2018 Evidence for Action (E4A) released an open Call for Proposals to identify a Matching Team whose primary role will be to facilitate partnerships between non-academic institutions and strong research partners to rigorously evaluate the health, well-being, and equity impacts of innovative program or policy interventions.

In reviewing over 1200 Letters of Intent (LOIs), we have discovered that while many LOIs submitted by non-academic institutions address important issues, some lack sufficient rigor in their research design to deliver convincing evidence of the impact of their intervention on population health. Non-academic institutions may include community-based organizations, healthcare service providers, non-profits, and government agencies – many of whom have sophisticated infrastructure to implement initiatives but limited research capacity for rigorous evaluation. One way to build research capacity in the field is to facilitate relationships between these entities and researchers. We are now seeking an organization who can facilitate such partnerships.

During the webinar E4A leadership:

  • Reviewed the Call for Proposals and the application process, materials, and timelines;
  • Provided insights into the characteristics of an ideal candidate for the Matching Team;
  • Outlined the role and expectations we have of the Matching Team.

Ample time was also allowed for a live Q&A. It is recommended that you review the Call for Proposals and our website prior to watching the recorded webinar.
